Marina & Boating Policies

At Goodhue Boat Company, we operate in accordance with regulations and guidelines that are in place to make the boating experience safe and successful. Anyone renting or operating one of our boats must be 21 or older. While all our rental boats are outfitted with GPS and radios, and meet strict service standards, there is no guarantee that a rental boat will not experience an operational issue. Cooking equipment, grills, and open flames are strictly prohibited on our rental boats.

For all locations in NH, ME, and VA, customers renting a boat over 25hp are required to have a NASBLA-approved boating license.  Depending on the state you are renting, some of our locations offer boaters the option to obtain a 14-day temporary license by passing a boating test on-site at the marina on or before the day of their reservation. There is a fee for each attempt. In the event the test is failed, it can be taken again in 24 hours. For this test, we recommended studying the Boaters Guide for the state you are boating in.

A full refund, less the $50 processing fee, will be offered at Goodhue Boat Company on bookings canceled more than 14 days before the reservation.

State Regulations

The state of New Hampshire requires every rental boat operator to have a Safety Boater Education Certificate on board. The certificate is obtained by passing the online exam or completing a boater safety course. For more information on safety courses, call 1 (888) 254-2125.

  • How does it work?

We offer daily, multi-day, and weekly rentals on all of our boats. We strongly encourage reservations to ensure that we have the boat you want locked in for you. We require payment in full to hold your reservation in our system - allowing you to show up, grab your boat and be on your way without having to fumble around for a credit card or cash. Once you complete your reservation, you will receive a confirmation email with details on your booking. There will be a link to complete the online express checkout process. This process includes important forms, that when completed prior to your reservation, will allow us to get you ou t on the water much faster.

What happens if I need to cancel my reservation?

You have up to 14 days before your reservation to cancel and receive a refund of your payment minus a $50 processing fee; if you have to cancel within 14 days of your reservation, even if it's due to poor weather, you forfeit the payment. If your deposit is forfeited, we will still refund you for any days we are able to rebook your boat. There are no rainchecks.

How old do I have to be to rent a boat?

We require all operators of our boats to be 21 years or older.

Does Goodhue Boat Company offer discounts on multi-day bookings?

Yes! This is a little new this season: we offer an incentive to book multiple days on our rental boats. You'll save up to $25/day when you book between 3-6 days. If you book 7 days or more, you'll save up to $50/day!

Does Goodhue Boat Company offer insurance on boat rentals?

Unfortunately we do not offer insurance for our rental boats. We always recommend checking with your auto insurance or credit card company to see if they offer protection. We make sure we go over all operations of the boat including a thorough chart briefing prior to departure; we'll point out known hazards on the lake and offer recommendations on areas to avoid that might be difficult for boaters to help protect you and the boat.

Do you offer tubing, waterskiing, or waterboarding packages?

Yes, yes, and yes! We offer them all and most of our boats are able to tow! Each package costs $75/day but we cap the cost at $200 even if you want the package for longer! Each package comes complete with 1 towable (tube, pair of skis, or wakeboard) plus a tow rope and the required lifejackets.

Is gas included in the rental price?

You'll go out with a full tank of gas - when you return your boat we'll fill it up and charge your card on file. Those charges may take up to 48 hours to appear on the card.

Can I take the rental boat to another lake?

Many boaters want to know if it's possible to rent a boat from Goodhue Boat Company but enjoy time boating elsewhere. While we're all about boating adventures, we know there's plenty of fun to be found right here. We require rentals to stay on the water where they're rented as we launch them as needed from our docks. This makes it simple for us to have boats prepped and ready to go at our docks when guests arrive. It also takes the hassle and risks out of transporting vessels from one lake to another. In this way, we make boating fun, safe, and always convenient for our customers.

    Can I do a half-day rental?

We do not offer half day rentals.

Is the boat I want available?

The easiest way to check availability for any of our rentals is to go to our Online Rental Booking page! You can compare boats, see pricing, capacity, horsepower, and check the availability of the boat for your vacation dates right there! If you're ready to book, you can do so right there too.

How do I get a temporary 14-day boating certificate?

We administer the test right in our office, but it can be challenging. We always recommend visiting www.Boat-ed.com in advance to take the New Hampshire Safety Boating course. The temporary certificate test costs $20 pass or fail. It's a 25 question timed-test, 25 minutes to complete and you need to get 20/25 questions right to pass. We always recommend studying and coming a day before your rental (if it's required) to take it, as the test can only be administered to an individual once every 24 hours.

What if I have a special request or require assistance booking?
